IBS’ Business Network Centre and Career Office aims to continuously maintain, strengthen and further develop our corporate network, involve the business world into our education and get our students and faculty involved in the business world.
The Career Office, which is a part of the Business Network Centre provides different career supporting services for IBS students. At the same time the Career Office assists the students during their years at IBS and beyond so that they can easily integrate themselves into the corporate world.
One of our main goals at the Career Office is to assist students in finding a placement position that meets their interests and where they can synthesise academics with practice.

One of our main goals at the Career Office is to assist students in finding the placement position that meets their interests and where they can synthesise academics with practice. To achieve this goal we provide the following services:
Self-awareness is often not enough to know our skills or to know which skills we need to improve.
However, to study effectively or to find the perfect job, and maintain a successful career, it is crucial that – the sooner the better – we acquire the necessary knowledge and improve our skills.
IBS aims to assist this with the purchase of skills and competency-tests from Captain Hungary Kft., the sole distributor of Captain tests in Hungary, exclusively for IBS students.
We consider this purchase as a 3 million Forint investment into the future and successful career of our students.
The test consists of a CAPTain Analysis and a CAPTain Subjective test, as well as an IQ test. Personal coaching is available for everyone upon completing the tests. The system measures the personality, work-capacity, intellectual capabilities, field of interest and behavioural traits of the test-taker. The resulting report gives an accurate guidance to the student concerning the jobs he/she can succeed in and the fields in which he/she needs to improve in order to remain successful in the chosen company/job.
Based on the test-results, competence-profiles are prepared for each student, who can then analyze their results with trained professionals within the framework of a group discussion. Here a plan is drawn up for competence-development and advice is given on career-choice.
From autumn 2009, Captain testing is part of the standard curriculum for all students. A study evaluating the results and the methodoly was prepared based on the experience of the first few years.

What is placement?
Optional work placement in the sixth semester of your studies is an excellent opportunity for testing your strengths, showing your teeth and more often than not, finding your workplace. In recent years, close to 40 per cent of our students have found a job upon graduation at their placement organisation.
Placement is a one semester internship which our undergraduate students can do in their third, final year, mostly at multinational companies.
Does IBS or the student look for internship places?
Searching for and finding a professional placement position is the task of the student; however, IBS can and does offer effective assistance. Our career office has a network of about 300 partner companies, and these companies are committed to accepting our students. It is common for our alumni who graduated a few years ago and by now have achieved leading positions to offer positions to present IBS students.
How can I be sure that I choose a suitable placement position?
Students entering IBS are required to take a so-called Captain test, which gives them a picture of their abilities and skills, all of this in the context of their field of future interest. Based on the results we can form the strategy that students need to follow in their planned careers.
Prior to the placement period we offer training, career counselling and resume and cover letter writing exercises to help students who apply to several positions that they have found through IBS or by themselves.
In the last 20 years experience has shown that our students have a significant competitive advantage in the labour market due to their superior language, IT, teamwork, presentation and other skills.
Why is placement so useful?
During the placement our students put into practice in real working situations what they have learned in theory . This is a very advantageous set-up for student and employer alike: as the placement lasts for a semester, the student can integrate into the work environment, and if the student is successful, they can continue their cooperation afterwards without any problems. It is also very common for students graduating from IBS to receive a job at their placement company, meaning that many of the students on our undergraduate programmes graduate with a stable position already waiting for them.
Most importantly, students graduating from IBS are not start-up graduates in the field of work, since they already have at least one semester of work experience behind them. It is no wonder that 70% of our graduates find a job within three months of their graduation, and 22% within 6 months, with very good salaries, and in fields which match their qualifications and interests.
As part of the School’s ongoing assessment, we bi-annually evaluate the effectiveness of our programs, especially in preparing students for work. We are most interested in the level of satisfaction with the skills, knowledge and behavior demonstrated by our students or graduates. We want to know whether the Business School is fulfilling its mission of providing the best possible education for its students.
